Black Nissan Rogue behind me tries to pass me and a slowly-accelerating, obviously fully-loaded Semi on an on-ramp (near the end, yes, but he pulled out before the merge lane started) into an oncoming lane he couldn’t see if anything was coming in and had to cut back in front of me quickly...

I saw him pull out in my mirror and thought to myself he was going to get in a head-on...he wasn’t close to one, luckily, but he could’ve been. After the truck got up to speed it stayed at the speed limit, so it was pointless of the guy to even try passing...the truck just needed the time to accelerate with a full load! :/

It doesn’t happen TOO often here, but I hate it when it does...how much time would he have really saved in the grand scheme of things had he been able to get past the two of us anyway...? :/

Don’t you live out in the country? I find around here rural drivers are fast as hell but more courteous than city drivers.

Not really...most of Nova Scotia is rural-ish, but not like...’The Prairies’ rural.

I live near Mahone Bay...within 10 minutes of it. Lunenburg is 10-15 mins away, as is Bridgewater, so...small towns Lburg and Mahone Bay are, yes, but Bwater is about 10,000 people, so not super tiny...though that depends on your POV. :P

A lot of them do drive pretty quickly here. Most are fairly courteous. The city can be a nightmare! o_0

Happens to me at least once a week when I’m coming off I-375 merging onto I-275 going North in St. Petersburg, Florida. “ I MUST GET ON TO I-275 AHEAD OF YOU!!!!!” they bellow, hunched over their steering wheels with their eyes lit up bright red like stop lights, as they pass on the right, pass on the left, nearly rear-end through traffic on I-275 and jam on their brakes , or whip out in front o f faster cars in the through-lane and make them jam on their brakes. Thes e are wide lanes with good visibility and lots of room but these geniuses - Florida Men! - can still make commuting exciting.

I grew up in the Tampa Bay area. People drive like idiots there. I thought they were the worst until I started travelling for work. I’m based near Atlanta now and I’m amazed every day by other drivers.

I’ve had some really impatient folks like that behind me on rural two-lane roads through Wyoming and South Dakota. If I’m in a rental Versa, I’m not trying to pass a truck without like 5 miles of visibility because it’ll take that long to accelerate. (Also if someone is going to hit a deer I’d much rather it not be me, so I don’t really mind the trucks)

Yet my dau ghter, who grew up and learned to drive in Tampa, now lives in Boston, and she tells me that the Bosto n “Masshole” driver i s even worse than Florida Man ™ .

Yup...my Accent is peppy, but it’s still only 110hp, so you have to make sure you have decent space! I wouldn’t have tried what this guy was trying...you couldn’t tell anything was coming or not past the truck...
